Abstract:
Abstract: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is mainly diagnosed by lung function test and chest imaging such as MRI and CT, etc. However, the sensitivities and repeatabilities of these diagnostic techniques for COPD diagnosis were unsatisfactory. Herein nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy technique is used to analyze the metabonomic differences of serum samples from 50 healthy controls and 42 patients with COPD in order to find the biomarkers for COPD diagnosis at the molecular level, thereby realizing the early screening for COPD in patients. The results showed that there were significant differences between healthy control group and COPD group in the concentrations of some metabolites such as taurine (δ 3.34-3.30), glutamate (δ 2.50-2.26) and lipid (δ 0.90-0.86), and the concentration ratios of taurine and glutamate over glucose, which suggests that the study can provide some reference for the further research on the potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of COPD.
