Abstract:
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the difference in the accuracy of bracket placement between two kinds of 3D printed guide plates in assisting indirect orthodontic bracket bonding. Methods The experimental model was established by arranging in vitro teeth according to dental arch form and marking measurement points, and then its digital model was obtained through a digital scanner. Two kinds of 3D printed guide plates, namely 3D printed whole-section and single-tooth guide plates, were designed by computer software. The brackets were transferred to the experimental model through the manufactured guide plates for indirect bonding. The distances between the markers and the specific positions of the bracket were measured, and the changes of the distances before and after the transfer were statistically analyzed. Results The results of paired t-test analysis showed that the deviations in the position changes of the whole-segment and single-tooth 3D printed guides before and after bracket transfer were (0.21±0.05) mm and (0.22±0.05) mm, respectively. There was no statistical difference in bracket placement accuracy in two kinds of 3D printed guide plates (P>0.05). Conclusion Under the above experimental conditions, two kinds of 3D print guide plates in assisting indirect orthodontic bracket bonding have similar accuracy of bracket placement.
