Abstract:
Abstract: Objective To investigate whether the adolescent smokers ability of cognitive controlis normal through the combination of event-related potential (ERP) technology and Eriksen Flanker task. Methods The samples included 19 smokers (n=19), and 19 healthy non-smokers (n=19) well matched the former in age, gender and education years. The error-related component, error positivity (Pe) and behavioral task performance of the two groups were compared. Results Compared with the healthy non-smokers, the number of errors inthe smoking group increased significantly (F=5.133, P=0.030). At the same time, the Pe amplitude of adolescent smokers was significantly reduced (P<0.001). Conclusion Adolescent smokers have defects in error processing, and their reduction of error processing ability may be related to smoking.
