- Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical effects of ozone combined with proximal fibular osteotomy in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA). Methods The clinical data of 40 patients with KOA lesions were retrospectively analyzed. Among the 40 patients, 20 were treated with ozone combined with proximal fibular osteotomy (observation group) and the others were treated with knee arthroplasty (control group). The total blood loss, blood transfusion, operation time, total hospitalization cost, postoperative complications, AKS score and VAS score at 1-6 months after operation were compared between two groups. Results All 40 cases were followed-up for 1-6 months. Statistical differences were found in the total blood loss, blood transfusion, operation time and total hospitalization cost between control group and observation group (P<0.05). There were few postoperative complications in both two groups. After operation, the AKS scores of two groups increased significantly, but VAS scores were decreased significantly, with statistical differences (P<0.05). No significant differences were found in AKS scores and VAS scores during postoperative follow-up (P>0.05). Conclusion In a short period of time, ozone combined with proximal fibular osteotomy can achieve a therapeutic effect close to that of knee arthroplasty. With the advantages of small joint injury, less bleeding, short operation time, low cost and so on, the combination of ozone and fibular osteotomy is more suitable for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis in basic-level hospitals.
