- Abstract:
- Abstract: For patients with insomnia, the changes in brain function are generally earlier than the structural changes of brain, and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a non- invasively technology to reflect the functional status ofdifferent brain regions under physiological conditions. Herein the research progress of fMRI in insomnia is reviewed fromthe aspects of the changes in resting-state or task-state brain functions. In resting state, regional homogeneity and amplitudeof low-frequency fluctuation are found to be abnormal in several brain regions in patients with insomnia, and the functionalconnectivity is changed. When performing cognitive tasks, patients with insomnia show low-level activation of task-relatedbrain regions. This review may help us understand the pathogenesis of insomnia and strive to apply fMRI technology in theclinical diagnosis of insomnia.
