Abstract:
Abstract: On-board cone-beam CT (CBCT) has been widely used in imaged-guided radiotherapy of breast cancer for measuring the setup errors. So far, numerous studies have revealed that the average setup error in CBCT image-guided radiotherapy of breast cancer is controlled within 5 mm. Compared with electronic portal image devices, CBCT has tremendous advantages, especially for large-breasted patients. However, the use of CBCT significantly increases the dose to organs-at-risk, which potentially increases the likelihood of developing a secondary malignancy. Further studies are needed to assess the benefits of CBCT in breast radiotherapy.
