- Abstract: Objective To compare the accuracy of quantitative computed tomography (CT) and double-energy X-ray bone densitometer for measuring the bone mineral density (BMD) between lumbar vertebrae. Methods A total of 100 healthy subjects were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to different measurement methods. Double-energy X ray was adopted in observation group, while quantitative CT was applied in control group. The accuracies of measurements were analyzed and compared. Results The BMD of L2-L4 vertebral body in males and females from control group was different. Moreover, the differences in BMD between the vertebral body were significant (P<0.05), and the BMD was gradually increased by L2-L4. No statistical differences were found in the BMD of L2-L4 vertebral body in males and females from observation group (P>0.05). Conclusion Using quantitative CT for the measurement of BMD between lumbar vertebrae can effectively improve the accuracy of measurement and provide references for clinical diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
